Actually - I often use energy with my putter and other electronics near me. This is a good thing because I find anything that spends enough time around me ends up energetically charged >_>... hehe ^_^.

I have been looking at this stuff for a while. Now that I have come upon this I realize that I fit almost all of those categories. I have realized this for quite a while, yet being human is no less mythilogical than being anything else! lol. This is way cool...I've always been weird, different from people. Almost everybody I know thinks I'm creepy and strange, even my friends. At school I'm practically invisible, except for when people want to insult me; I try to be nice to people, but for some reason I repel most. I have a group of odd friends, odd like me. My dreams are occasionally prophetic, though it's just little things, like I'm standing in the living room talking to my brother about Baulder's Gate II and the TV is turned on to the news...I long to fly, and my shoulders itch from time to time. Most cats either don't like me or are indifferent, and I can move my ears better than anybody I know. I feel a strange affinity with bats, too...
Okay, now I'm frightened. I read this list with a "yeah, right" grin, and my feet planted firmly in reality. Now I find myself answering yes to just a fewwwwww too many of these questions.
I actually know how to purr, and do so when I am very relaxed or happy, or else when I am very scared (like right now). When I am angry, I tend to flex my shoulder blades and my mind's eye sees a pair of leathery wings unfolding menacingly. (I also do this when the warm sun is hitting me, but it's not in so menacing a fashion.) In high school my nickname was 'Werewolf' if you were my friend, or else 'Killer Beast' if you were my enemy. Those who were neither way called me "Dragon Lady".
I dream of dragons frequently. When I dream, I am a dragon with golden scales. I laugh a lot in my dreams, but when I get angry in them, I do as I described above, only this time the imagery is complete.
I have always had an affinity with cats, dogs, and wolves. No cat has regarded me as an enemy. No dog, no matter how vicious, has ever attacked me (they always stop short). I was befriended by a pack of wolves while I was hiking in the wilderness. (I thought I was in danger, but they seemed to be more friendly than threatening. Every time I went back into that part of the woods, I could howl and a member of the pack would respond.)
Even in my earliest memories, I never wanted to be a human. I taught myself to burr before the age of 5, and my mother talks about me and the cat my uncle had at that time as being kittens together. Many remembered lives and several sets of instincts later, and the cat is still the strongest. =^_^=
I seriously doubt that any of this is realistic. I wonder if the creators of this site were just joking or if this is a sort of skitzophrenia. I guess it's possible. I believe anything's possible. I learned in chemistry that any reaction can be reversed, so technically if the conditions were just right a tree could un-burn. However I think it's highly unlikely that that will ever happen. I think that these ideas are the result of avid imagination and one to many rpg games taken just a liiiiittle bit too seriously. smiles:O)

Sigh...one of the largest problems in this world...people hate that which is different and refuse to accept anything. I am elven, and if you are human, dragon, dwarven, wereman, or anything...you are all open to voice opinons, but do not question that which one knows. AS a matter of fact, most people who rpg do so because they know they do not fit and it allows them to finally become accepted among others. Belive what you wish, it wont stop me from KNOWING what I am. *smiles happily**
I'm forced to disagree with this, really. From my experience, all or virtually all of the roleplayers I know (many of whom play mostly non-humans) don't do it because they feel "different"; they do it because they enjoy the storytelling aspect and the enjoyment of a fun hobby. I have no problems with otherkin, but please, don't stereotype all gamers as otherkin because of our playing habits.

yes I love that quote also....... when I was in the 4th grade my math/science teacher just flat out told me that my family was weird and that I was weirder. Her remark had nothing to do with what I was, and my family is very different from me. But I remembered that quote and I still laugh about it today. In my opinion, humans are wierd, person A. tells me that I have hypersensitive hearing, I tell them that they are just deaf, while I don't really believe that they just have human range hearing, the fact to them is, if that's how your people feel about me being close-minded, this is how I would feel if I were close-minded. And the other thing is, I enjoy being myself when I can. :)

This is weird.... I've ALWAYS felt different than the other people I know but one of my friends is like me. I don't know what or who I am sometimes. Once when I was little I spent over an hour in a daze caught between two places. I've had odd sort of dreams and I've always felt weird about my back (about the middle)and my mouth waters when I see raw meat/sushi. The only thing is cats and chickens HATE me. I like the night and the full moon. They seem to call to me and I feel depressed when i get near a messed up habitat. I hate when i see animals scared and hurt but cows get nervous for some reason. Can someone help me? I feel lost and confused. E-mail me SOON!
I too feel like a lot of these people who have commented that they have always felt "different". I have visions or dreams of running through the forest really low to the ground and being chased or hunted. I despise hunting or animal abuse of anykind, and always have since I can remember. My family have always thought I was really strange because I grew up on a farm and don't believe in killing animals for food or sport. I have the urge to hunt humans even though I haven't followed up on it....yet. I feel like hunters need a dose of their own medicine. The one about the pupils so hits me on the mark!!! I have blue-grey eyes, but you would never notice at times concerning how large the pupil is...they could be almost black!!! I don't even know of anyone in my family like this (not from my dad's side anyways), but it was neat to read that. Once I was having x-rays done..and it was so "dark" in the room that my pupils enlarged and she ran to get the doctor!!! He asked me a bunch of questions..It's like "They are naturally like this. I don't know why. No, I am not on drugs." :-)
this is incredibly amazing...and most of the people who read this laugh and think to themselves (even if they don't admit it), 'This is me. This is why I feel like I don't belong.' In any situation the solution is often the simplest one to find - and this would be a simple explanation for alot of things. I wonder how many really feel this way? And I wonder if the feeling will ever grow enough for people to band together and really stand up for it and demand some attention. It causes my brain to spin - in a good way. :)

I could relate to almost everything except the part about not liking gold or bronze. A few years ago, I loved silver, but since then I've gone through an "awakening" and turned to gold and bronze as my colors. Is it possible for a person to be a gryphon reincarnate? Makes me think. . .
I read this with chills and tears. I just happened upon this site, and I can't believe that I can finally figure out what I am, not just the wierd one of the family. I just wanted to add something that I forgot. My favorite comment to make, and I make it constantly, is "I don't belong in this world with these humans" I've always thought of humans as 'them'. And I always say I'm gonna go live in a hollow tree; I've said that since I was a toddler. WHO AM I?
OMG, I was reading the list and at first I thought it was all just a little funny, then when I go on down, I'm like THIS ISN'T EVEN FUNNY! WHO'S BEEN PRYING INTO MY LIFE! But seriously, that one on the rp, I absolutely refuse to play the part of a human. I can't stand gold or bronze either, I insist only on silver. My peers at school refuse to meet my gaze and all think that I'm a witch or a vampire, which I do have a love for both just like elves and dragons. I don't understand why they see me as different but then again, they're the ones that's different to me. My sisters and mom all see me as strange but little children always seem to get happy and insist on giving me a hug and smiling every time I walk by. I have been told that my eyes change color when I get angry or just plain emotional. I remember once when I was little, I dreamed of my grandfather having to go to the hospital and that he had died while he was there and the next morning, my stepdad called from his mothers saying that my grandfather was on his way to the hospital and when he arrived, he had a heartattack and if he had arrived a moment later, would have died. Every house I've lived in so far has had something about it that only I notice, like this one house that scared me so much I had nightmares every night till we moved out. After the place was torn down, in a certain room that really frightened me, just above it was a smaller room about 3' by 3' and inside was shackles and below the house itself was deep pits about 10' every few feet apart. I remember that place with clarity and everytime we pass it driving by and I happen to be asleep or even awake, I have to watch the ground or I wake with a start, as if from a nightmare. And I also happen to have a fasination with cats but that couldn't possible have anything to do with this unless my cat, Salem does. She hated everyone I knew, she would claw at them, bite at them, hiss at them, but if I should walk up to her and hold out my hand, she would start to purr very loudly. That mad everyone think I had done something to her though I don't have a possible clue as to what.

I find it hilarious and I believe. (most, at least) - Personaly, I don't know what I am. I certainly think differently to most humans, and loads and loads of that list matched me. - I'm geneticaly human, but I belive I'm different on a higher level of reality.

That is so accurate. I got 57 of them. I swear I should have been a demon, or at least have demon wings and claws. Everyone should be able to fly, as well as know how to use mideval weapons without any prior knowledge.

I always knew there were others,and I have met one or two along the way through this paticular incarnation, but it is heartening to know that we are many although I dont think much of this selfstyled title "Otherkin". I have always stayed clear of giving my true nature a name as naming somthing suggests that it can be quantified, labled and catagorised. I on the other hand have always just refered to myself as universaly aware. On a different note I recommend that any true lover of the sky (like myself) takes up Hang gliding, I could do it quite easily from the very first go and the whole experience felt reasuringly familiar, proving (at least to me) that the soul remembers. I hadnt read any of these before I posted(the other comments). I am so pleased to know that i am no longer alone....there is so much I could say, but many of you have said it all already. I am very close to nature, and funny enough I am a huge fan of silver and where nothing else. Any other meatle makes me break out, and the same was for my mother. SOme of my earliest memories are of her complaining about her meatle rashes:P I get this strange calling to nature, and my ears are very sensitive. I also have a strong calling sense to help/guard others....dont ask, cause I dont know. I am very close to all kinds of nature, and am a huge art/writing freak, and i love to rock climb. I was once in the forest(before they cut down most of it to build houses) and I was sitting in a beautiful glen when a family of deer just came right up to me and joined me. I have this strange way to...as I know the woods...almost any i enter like the back of my hand, and am swift affot in them. Its almost as if they bend for me, and I move very silently.
Oh, and I loath water...well not all water...I love the rain...but anything where if I were to get in I wouldent be able to see my feet. When I was little I used to love going into the pool and staring upwards at the sky through it, but now I just hate it...not afraid of it...just really dislike it...anyone else like that?..or like me at all?

And before that, I loved lizards, and I still do. That's a lil' creepy... Although my classmates don't treat me badly. I have to say most animals love or at least tolorate being and cats in particular in my past have been my best friends and I have a odd feeling sometimes that they are my gaurdians. And often people either love or hate me and often say I act very mature for my age and often at the same time very childish. I'm not sure what I am yet or if my mind is fooling me into thinking I'm an otherkin.

You really don't connect things together until you read something like that, then you're saying "oh, well that makes sense now!"
I answered yes to most of them though I could always add more to the end...like the breathing water part. I always hate going in water 'cause I have so much fun and forget that I can't breathe it! (Which usually ends up with me just about drowning) Some of the 'you might be an otherkin if..' seem to only be 'around' during certain times of the year or with certain sides. eg. I can only be truly quiet when my feline side comes out or my elven side can hear the forest loudly only at a certain season. (and I am sure it's different for everykin)

Okay, for starters, let me just say... Pretty much EVERYONE who looks at the list will find something about them. It's just too broad and too vague for you to not find something that fits you. That doesn't mean that you're Otherkin. Maybe we should take into consideration that people wrote legends of the Otherkin based on eccentrics! Maybe their personalities are based on humans who were just a little different from the other humans. Just because a couple of these apply to you DOES NOT mean you are Otherkin. I'm sure 3/4 of my friends would find things that fit them if they read this. Just because you find a lot of traits that fit you does not mean you are Otherkin or ever were. Don't underestimate the human mind.

I have long suspected that I (an Irish-American male born in Alabama during 1970) am something other than entirely a member of the human species, albeit in some rather difficult to define way. The closest thing to an independent observer coming to a similar conclusion about me was when I got some endocrinological tests done back in '91 and the doctor said I had totally healthy, yet statistically very unusual readings, and we joked about the possibility that perhaps I was a member of some newly emerging subspecies.
In any event, I've had these feelings of non-humanity for much of my life, but I've never really told anyone (I've only known two people I felt would be open to such a concept, one an ex-girlfriend I haven't seen since prior to my taking these ideas very seriously myself and another woman who I only dated one time and who expressed no interest in seeing me a second time, alas, so opportunities for such discussions have been quite limited, seeing as how the milieu I inhabit tends to be populated largely by Christians, assorted right-ring Republican-types and people who are aware of little else than their job, sporting events on television, fishing, beer drinking, etc. - I'm not saying there's anything wrong with people like that, but they make less than ideal candidates for thought-provoking discussions of highly unusual topics generally).
As a a consequence of my keeping these thoughts to myself, I never realized there were so many others (apparently) with (seemingly) similar suspicions about themselves. Now that I have discovered the "Otherkin" subculture, I am curious what those people more immersed in it than I am might think about my condition. I am not certain of my state of non-humanity, and I have just gone down the list of possible traits from the "You Might be Otherkin if...." list on Otherkin.net and here are the results of what I found. Anyone who believes they may have some useful insight into these matters is strongly encouraged to reply (I may post this in several locations, so while I highly approve of public postings, in that they encourage discussion, I would prefer that, in addition, you also send me a private email of your remarks, in order to ensure that I see them - my email address is SJGuy365@aol.com). I just wanted to suggest that you keep the list at this address, it was a wonderfully contrived list that seemed to affect people in a variety of ways i and others i am sure would appreciate continuing to read comments from people out of interest, both those who take it seriously and those who get the joke.
I would love a copy of the list. My friend used this to introduce the concept of otherkin(it is easier for some to grasp concepts when there is humor involved) and thus began to wonder about myself. The list is what made me and 5 of my friends figure out that we are otherkin. I know it was humour but most people understand things better when they are funny. And believe it or not, a few of those things are true for one of my friends. She's an elf and she speaks Tolkin Elvish a LOT. Anyway, please bring it back for it made a lot of people happy!

I would very much like to read this article. Please send me a copy. I always enjoy knowledge and a good laugh. Humor and intelligent thought rolled into one with a tad bit of meat to it sounds compelling. Maybe, however, it would be a good idea to rename the article so as not to cause Lost People confusion. Correction, not Lost. Yet to be Found.
We are all here, we just haven't opened our doors as wide as we believe.Patience, who's to say that you must be found now. Some may only find themselves during their last moments in this life. It'll all work out. Just have patience.

Okay, even though I know that this list was meant as simply humour and isn't anything to take complete stock in, I have to say that some of those things on the list seemed very familiar, and/or have actually happened to me.

The article you have is listed on the page of listed artcles in french. Also the first quarter of the article is in french. THis is rather difficult for those of us who do not remember enough of our highschool french class from ten years ago. It would be great if there were two sites listed for the article. One in english and one in french. That would be less confusing. Normally I wouldn't mention anything, but I refer people to this artcle often when they are first awakening.
Man. This is good. I got twenty two of these. Including the one about random children coming up to me and hugging me. But they don't really hug me. They just stare at me.
Mayhaps you didn't read the disclaimer. Who are you to chastise someone if they found this humorous? This article was to be taken with a grain of salt, my friend. Maybe you should take that advice. How can we help each other and ourselves understand what we are if we can't share a laugh about some of the stuff that binds us together?
Actually - I often use energy with my putter and other electronics near me. This is a good thing because I find anything that spends enough time around me ends up energetically charged >_>... hehe ^_^.

yes I love that quote also....... when I was in the 4th grade my math/science teacher just flat out told me that my family was weird and that I was weirder. Her remark had nothing to do with what I was, and my family is very different from me. But I remembered that quote and I still laugh about it today. In my opinion, humans are wierd, person A. tells me that I have hypersensitive hearing, I tell them that they are just deaf, while I don't really believe that they just have human range hearing, the fact to them is, if that's how your people feel about me being close-minded, this is how I would feel if I were close-minded. And the other thing is, I enjoy being myself when I can. :)

I think you are either too close minded, or you are just unwilling to accept anything but what your eyes tell you! Me, I'm a full blooded red dragon and very proud of it, too!
You should never deny yourself the blessings of otherkinness if you are lucky enough to be one (considering less than 0.5% of all people are considered to be so).
This is way cool...I've always been weird, different from people. Almost everybody I know thinks I'm creepy and strange, even my friends. At school I'm practically invisible, except for when people want to insult me; I try to be nice to people, but for some reason I repel most. I have a group of odd friends, odd like me. My dreams are occasionally prophetic, though it's just little things, like I'm standing in the living room talking to my brother about Baulder's Gate II and the TV is turned on to the news...I long to fly, and my shoulders itch from time to time. Most cats either don't like me or are indifferent, and I can move my ears better than anybody I know. I feel a strange affinity with bats, too...
I find it hilarious and I believe. (most, at least) - Personaly, I don't know what I am. I certainly think differently to most humans, and loads and loads of that list matched me. - I'm geneticaly human, but I belive I'm different on a higher level of reality.
Sigh...one of the largest problems in this world...people hate that which is different and refuse to accept anything. I am elven, and if you are human, dragon, dwarven, wereman, or anything...you are all open to voice opinons, but do not question that which one knows. AS a matter of fact, most people who rpg do so because they know they do not fit and it allows them to finally become accepted among others. Belive what you wish, it wont stop me from KNOWING what I am. *smiles happily**
I hadnt read any of these before I posted(the other comments). I am so pleased to know that i am no longer alone....there is so much I could say, but many of you have said it all already. I am very close to nature, and funny enough I am a huge fan of silver and where nothing else. Any other meatle makes me break out, and the same was for my mother. SOme of my earliest memories are of her complaining about her meatle rashes:P I get this strange calling to nature, and my ears are very sensitive. I also have a strong calling sense to help/guard others....dont ask, cause I dont know. I am very close to all kinds of nature, and am a huge art/writing freak, and i love to rock climb. I was once in the forest(before they cut down most of it to build houses) and I was sitting in a beautiful glen when a family of deer just came right up to me and joined me. I have this strange way to...as I know the woods...almost any i enter like the back of my hand, and am swift affot in them. Its almost as if they bend for me, and I move very silently.
Oh, and I loath water...well not all water...I love the rain...but anything where if I were to get in I wouldent be able to see my feet. When I was little I used to love going into the pool and staring upwards at the sky through it, but now I just hate it...not afraid of it...just really dislike it...anyone else like that?..or like me at all?
I too feel like a lot of these people who have commented that they have always felt "different". I have visions or dreams of running through the forest really low to the ground and being chased or hunted. I despise hunting or animal abuse of anykind, and always have since I can remember. My family have always thought I was really strange because I grew up on a farm and don't believe in killing animals for food or sport. I have the urge to hunt humans even though I haven't followed up on it....yet. I feel like hunters need a dose of their own medicine. Anyway I am glad I'm not alone anymore...feel free to email me and set up a chat session...I really wish we could have group meetings...I'm in Alabama so let me know if their is anyone with the same wishes as myself.
I'm forced to disagree with this, really. From my experience, all or virtually all of the roleplayers I know (many of whom play mostly non-humans) don't do it because they feel "different"; they do it because they enjoy the storytelling aspect and the enjoyment of a fun hobby. I have no problems with otherkin, but please, don't stereotype all gamers as otherkin because of our playing habits.
I came here out of mere curiousity. I consider myself 100% human and most of those points apply to me. This is yet another reason why I feel that otherkin are not nearly so 'special' as they think they are - they're just your average sensitive with a superiority complex.
I'm open to the idea, but I'm ever the sceptic. ^^
